About Us
Sussex Housing Group (SHG) is a partnership of organizations that includes representation from the public and private sector, non-profits and other community-based organizations, and communities.
SHG works collaboratively on housing and community development issues as they affect communities in Sussex County, DE. Our mission is as follows: “The Sussex Housing Group brings together multiple organizations and individuals as an effective coalition that fosters safe, fair, and affordable housing and builds a community based on the power of people and place.”

(YIMBY) Movement
Yes In My Backyard (YIMBY) is a national movement that has a growing support network in Sussex County advocating for inclusive, safe and affordable housing. Sussex County is a mix of long-time residents and newcomers, renters and homeowners, business owners and employees, families and individuals, citizens and immigrants, commuters, bus riders, cyclists and pedestrians. We see friends, family, and coworkers priced out of our area. Sussex Housing Group (SHG) has recognized the negative impact this has had in our community and is working together to make Sussex County a community that has affordable and safe homes available for all.
